Announces $40,000 For Pakenham Recreational Project
Lanark-Carleton
MPP Norm Sterling today delivered $40,000 in Ontario Trillium Foundation funding
to help the Township of Mississippi Mills purchase equipment and install a
multi-purpose skateboard park in Pakenham. The skateboard park will also be used
as an outdoor rink, bike rodeo course, and shuffleboard court.
“I
am pleased to present this funding, which means young people and their parents
will have greater access to recreational activities closer to home here in
Pakenham,” Sterling said. “This has been a successful community-driven
project from the start and I want to congratulate the students, parents and
other community members who have worked so hard to make this project happen. The
entire community will benefit.”
The
$40,000 investment will support the Township of Mississippi Mills with the
installation of an asphalt pad and rink boards. It will also assist with the
purchase of some skateboard equipment.
The
Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Ministry of Culture, receives
annually $100 million of government funding generated through Ontario’s
charity casino initiative. The
Foundation allocates grants to eligible charitable and not-for-profit
organizations in the arts, culture, sports, recreation, environment and social
service sectors.
