Lanark-Carleton MPP Norm Sterling called upon the McGuinty government to keep its promise to widen Highway 7 and commit to a start date for construction.
“The McGuinty government is led by an Ottawa native. Dalton knows the importance of four-laning this particular piece of highway,” Sterling told the members of the Legislature in a statement yesterday.
Pointing to recent accidents one of which resulted in the tragic death of a 33-year-old Orleans man, Sterling reminded the government just how important this project is to constituents of Lanark-Carleton and demanded the Minister of Transportation tell representatives from Carleton Place and Lanark County when construction will begin at next week’s Good Roads Conference.
When he was Transportation
Minister, Sterling earmarked $85 million for the Highway 7 four-laning, between
Carleton Place and Highway 417. Since the McGuinty Liberals came to power
Sterling as regularly reminded them of the importance of this project through
numerous letters to the Minister of Transportation as well as through statements
and questions in the Legislature.
Petitions calling upon the
McGuinty government to start construction are available through Sterling’s
constituency office or at www.normsterling.com. Sterling will introduce
completed petitions in the Legislature.
