Sterling Congratulates Local Global Traders Awards Winners

Carleton Place, Ontario:  Norm Sterling MPP for Lanark-Carleton this week was pleased be on hand to congratulate two local companies on receiving Ontario Global Traders Awards in the 8th annual eastern region Ontario Global Traders Awards in Kingston yesterday.

The companies, OZ Optics from Carp and H. Rose Machining Ltd. from Carleton Place received awards in recognition for being among the most innovative and successful small and medium sized exporters and business leaders in Ontario .

OZ Optics, which develops, manufactures and markets fiber-optic components and test equipment, received a Gold Award in Market Expansion and a Silver Award in Innovation at the ceremony.  Also, OZ President and CEO Omur Sezerman received a Silver Award in the Leadership category (pictured with Mr. Sterling).

H. Rose Machining, a major supplier of precision-machined components to the high-tech, industrial, and armaments markets, received the Gold Award in Market Expansion.

“I was very pleased to be in attendance at this ceremony to witness this well deserved recognition of two local companies”, said Sterling .  ‘Both OZ Optics and H. Rose Machining are proof positive that our entrepreneurs in Eastern Ontario have what it takes to compete on the world stage.”

The Regional Global Traders Awards ceremonies are also held in central, southwest and northern Ontario . Top regional award recipients will compete for provincial honours in Toronto on May 31, 2006. The Ontario Global Traders Awards are coordinated by the Trade and Investment Division of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, with support from its partners.
